Gerhard, a director and conveyancer in the firm's vibrant Property Law Department with over 20 years of legal experience, assists and advises clients on all aspects of property law. Gerhard enjoys the challenges that are inherent to agricultural and farm sale transactions. He has extensive legal expertise and practical experience in these fields, which enables him to effectively address client’s concerns and deal with all property related matters.
Gerhard has developed strong negotiation and arbitration skills which, in addition to property law, he uses in his other specialised field of practice, labour law. He regularly acts as legal counsel for employers and employees and is involved in disciplinary investigations, enquiries, CCMA referrals, mediations and arbitrations.
Gerhard is a strong supporter of the notion that the legal profession has a responsibility to be actively involved in the community, and started out his own law career doing community service in pro bono practice with the Legal Aid Board in Stellenbosch.
Gerhard currently serves as the chairman of the Board of Governors of the Somerset House Prep School in Somerset West, as well as a trustee of the Cloetenberg Educational Trust. Gerhard is also a member of the local Run/Walk for Life Club and regularly partakes in fun runs and a half marathon at least once a year. As an avid fly fisherman and member of the Lourensford Fly-Fishing Club, he enjoys any free time he has next to the trout waters.
