Nico has been an attorney at Miller Bosman Le Roux since 1985, where he specialises in High Court litigation, family laws and mediation. Nico's career includes tenures as senior prosecutor in Upington, Regional Court prosecutor in Kimberley and state advocate at the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in KwaZulu-Natal.

Nico, who graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with BA (Law) and LL.B degrees, has retained his academic presence, lecturing part-time for candidate attorneys since 1993 at LEAD, and is involved at the University of Cape Town's School for Legal Practice since 1994. He is also an examiner for the attorney’s entrance examination.

As an avid sports player, Nico has completed the Comrades and Two Oceans Marathons, and cycled the Cape Argus Tour. He is also a member of the Western Province Rugby Referees Association. Nico serves the community as a trustee at school trusts, and he has been a commissioner of the Small Claims Court since 1994.

He is a director of companies, and a trustee of various family and business trusts. As a family law practitioner, he advises and represents clients in divorce and maintenance matters. He is also a mediator.
