I
am Meerushini Govender, a daughter, wife, mother of 2 boys, attorney, council
member on the Western Cape Provincial Legal Council and a Board member at my
children's’ school.
After
completing my higher education in KZN, and serving my articles in Kimberley, I moved
to Johannesburg, where I joined Standard Bank and thereafter moved into private
practice.
As
an adventure and to offer my children (two boys aged 10 and 12) a better
quality of life, I decided to move to the Western Cape in 2014. The decision has never been regretted, as I
have fallen in love with the region, especially my hometown of Somerset West.
After
a short sabbatical, I returned to private practice and now serve as a Director
at Miller Bosman Le Roux. I practise in the Litigation Department and I am very passionate
about working in the field of Family Law. In as much as Family Law can be challenging,
it is also rewarding when you finalise a divorce or maintenance matter where
the parties are satisfied and the children's’ rights and needs are upheld of
which is the utmost importance.
I
have a few but deep areas of passion: When I am not working or watching my boys play sport, I am entertaining family and friends
through cooking authentic meals from around the world (e.g. Indian,
Greek/Mediterranean) which provides immense satisfaction and relaxation. My late nights are spent reading a wide range
of fictional material.
I look forward to sharing with you my views on the legal and social issues.
